Guidance and Counseling
I would like
to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Mike Harris, and I have been
a part of the Dr. Green family since August of 1995. It has always been a
pleasure to be part of a great school like the Hawks.
and graduated from Hinton High School in Hinton, West Virginia. I earned a
Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Texas in El
Paso. I received a Master’s in Counseling from Sul Ross State University in
Alpine, Texas. Before coming to Dr. Green, I worked as an elementary school teacher.
As an elementary school teacher, I taught kindergarten, second, and multi-age
fourth and fifth grades.
My primary responsibilities
as a School Counselor are to help address the academic, career and college
awareness, personal and social development of each Hawk student. I am here to
offer support to the students, families, staff, and your community.I conduct
classroom lessons discussing “We Help Ourselves”, harassment, anti-bullying
skills, home alone, wise choices, and other topics. I meet with students
individually and in small groups in time of need. I collaborate with the staff
and consult with community organizations to provide services and meet the needs
of each student and family at Dr. Green.
